January is starting out with a bang with well known artist performing this month. B.B. King and Howie Mandel are appearing the first week of January.

  • "The Blue Jean Ball" This will be the second year for this new style fundraiser that invites all of it's guest to dress informally. Come join us for outdoor dinning, drinking and dancing. This year's Blue Jean Ball, that helps to serve, strengthen and nourish people in Pinellas County as they return to self-sufficiency by benefiting the RCS (Religious Community Services) Food Bank, will be held at a private home in Belleair on February 25th. The event is co-chaired by Kathryn and Bobby Adikes, Kim and Ed Cole and will feature music by the local band "The Outpatients". For tickets or to become a sponsor, call 727-243-7360.
  • "Miniature Art Exhibit" From January 15th through February 5th, the Miniature Art Society of Florida will exhibit close to 800 small-scale works of art, submitted by artists from around the world at the Dunedin Fine Art Center. This annual exhibit will include paintings, scrimshaw, fired porcelain and sculpture, all of  which will be on sale. The Society will also have more that 100 works of art on display from their permanent collections. During the show artist will be demonstrating their styles and techniques and the will be answering questions. For more information call the Dunedin Fine Art Center at 727-298-3322.
  • "Great Chefs of Tampa Bay" Saturday evening on the 25th of January great art will be meeting great food. The areas most talented chefs will be cooking their signature dishes, to help raise funds at the Duncan McClellan Glass Studio in St. Petersburg. Proceeds from the event will benefit Family Resources a nonprofit organization. They provide counseling to families in crisis, shelters for troubled teens and support to grandparents raising grandchildren. This night will be a night to remember as the Duncan's nationally acclaimed art glass will be on display.   • "The Dunedin Pastrami Wars" The eight people who finished the "Skyscraper" pastrami sandwich in the shortest period of time at Dunedin Bagels and Deli have become finalists. On February 11th at Pioneer Park in downtown Dunedin competition will continue to eat three and a half pounds of pastrami. Runners up will be receiving a gift certificate and first place will receive a cash prize. A portion of the proceeds will help support Dunedin Kiwanis UNICEF campaign.
