  1. How do I read my site stats?

Hits represent the total number of requests made to the server during the given time period (month, day, hour etc..).

Files represent the total number of hits (requests) that actually resulted in something being sent back to the user. Not all hits will send data, such as 404-Not Found requests and requests for pages that are already in the browsers cache.

Tip: By looking at the difference between hits and files, you can get a rough indication of repeat visitors, as the greater the difference between the two, the more people are requesting pages they already have cached (have viewed already).

Sites is the number of unique IP addresses/hostnames that made requests to the server. Care should be taken when using this metric for anything other than that. Many users can appear to come from a single site, and they can also appear to come from many ip addresses so it should be used simply as a rough guage as to the number of visitors to your server.

Visits occur when some remote site makes a request for a page on your server for the first time. As long as the same site keeps making requests within a given timeout period, they will all be considered part of the same Visit. If the site makes a request to your server, and the length of time since the last request is greater than the specified timeout period (default is 30 minutes), a new Visit is started and counted, and the sequence repeats. Since only pages will trigger a visit, remotes sites that link to graphic and other non- page URLs will not be counted in the visit totals, reducing the number of false visits.

Pages are those URLs that would be considered the actual page being requested, and not all of the individual items that make it up (such as graphics and audio clips). Some people call this metric page views or page impressions, and defaults to any URL that has an extension of .htm, .html or .cgi.

A KByte (KB) is 1024 bytes (1 Kilobyte). Used to show the amount of data that was transfered between the server and the remote machine, based on the data found in the server log.

It can take anywhere from two to three weeks to several months depending on the type of site that you choose. Building a Web Site is a creative process and the staff at Telesys Global, L.L.C. pride ourselves on building a unique site for each of our clients. One thing that clients can do to help speed up the process is to submit any materials (photos, logos, and content) in a timely manner.

  6. What is the length of time until we show up (indexed) in the search engines?

Search engines and directories consist of free and paid submission databases.  It normally takes 6 to 8 weeks to be fully indexed (registered) in the search engines.  The indexing process can be expedited if you are willing to pay e.g., LookSmart 15 cents per click with a $15 per month minimum, Yahoo $299, AltaVista $39, Lycos $18 and Google and Overture's pay-per-click amounts for an express sponsor submission.  The pay for inclusion search engines typically index sites within a few days to one week if you pay the express registration fee.  However, our Platinum Marketing Package  (if chosen as an option) takes 6 - 8 weeks to fully take effect.

Yahoo recently began charging $299 for express application submissions.  While Yahoo is important, the Web owner must decide whether the $299 for a Yahoo "application" is warranted.  Paying $299 does not guarantee that Yahoo will accept the site.  Yahoo's "spillover" Web Pages section is powered by Google.  Google does not charge for submissions.

Google offers "Ad words" which can be a good value.  Each time someone clicks on your ad, you will pay a price ranging from a few cents to a few dollars, depending upon the popularity of the search term.

The most heavily used search engines are Google, Yahoo and MSN.  Google indexes more of the Internet than any search engine.  Google employs superb technology retrieves high quality results very quickly.  Google is the fastest growing search engine and has developed numerous strategic partnerships (i.e. AOL).  Google is the clear leader in "Average Minutes Spent Searching Per Visitor" and has more than twice the number of "Total Search Hours" of the nearest competitor (Yahoo.)

To achieve maximum visibility, your site should be entered in Google, Alta Vista, Yahoo, MSN, AOL, Lycos, Infoseek, What-U-Seek, hotbot, webcrawler, excite, viola, UK Index, Anzwers, Northern Light, EuroFerreet, Fireball, Addlink, Canada.com,  spider, searchking, icq, ask jeeves, and go momma.

So what can we do? Together we will identify keywords and summary statements which will be coded into your website so your site will be found by Search Engines. We'll register your site with Top 30 Search Engines and in the appropriate directories on a monthly basis. But in addition to what we can do on the Internet to get the word out about your site, you should consider developing a promotion plan as well.  Make sure to list your web address on any other form of marketing you use.  (i.e. yellow page advertising, business cards, magazine ads, billboards, etc.)

We will be happy to advise or assist you in developing your digital marketing campaign.  Telesys Global owns and operates 5 highly successful city's sites that hold over 50 top ten positions on the above mentioned search engines. www.intpa.com , www.intarponsprings.com , www.inclw.com , www.indunedin.com , www.instpete.com .

  7. How much (Web) space do I need?

The web space you need depends upon your web site requirements. For example, if you have a web site with a lot of data, content rich and includes interactive applications like chat, e-mail interface etc. then you require a space in the range of 150mb-1GB depending on the complexity of the applications. For smaller applications such as a 10-15 page site with few photographs a couple of forms, 2-3 e-mail accounts etc. will take up approximately 10 Mb of space.

  8. What is a payment processing gateway?

Payment Processing Gateway is basically a system of financial transaction on internet. It involves the merchant's acquiring bank (the owner of the shopping mall), the customer (who is using his credit card, check or other payment source), and the payment gateway infrastructure provider.

As soon as the customer enters his or her credit card details on the secured page of the merchant's virtual shopping mall, it is authenticated by the issuing bank then accepted by the acquiring bank, now the customer is entitled for the delivery of the selected item or service. Next the amount is transferred into the merchant's account.
